Hong Kong Trail

Hong Kong Trail (Chinese: 港島徑), opened on 1985, is a long-distance footpath from Victoria Peak to Big Wave Bay on Hong Kong Island. The trail is 50 km long. Given that Victoria Peak and Big Wave Bay are less than 11km apart as the crow flies, the trail takes a very indirect route.

The Hong Kong Trail is divded into eight Stages.
- The Peak to Pok Fu Lam Reservoir, 7.0 km, 2.0 hours, Fairly Difficult
- Pok Fu Lam Reservoir to Peel Rise, 4.5 km, 1.5 hours, Fairly Difficult
- Peel Rise to Wan Chai Gap, 6.5 km, 1.75 hours, Fairly Difficult
- Wan Chai Gap to Wong Nai Chung Road, 7.5 km, 2.0 hours, Easy Walk
- Wong Nai Chung Road to Mount Parker Road, 4.0 km, 1.5 hours, Very Difficult
- Mount Parker Road to Tai Tam Road, 4.5 km, 1.5 hours, Easy Walk
- Tai Tam Road to To Tei Wan, 7.5 km, 2.0 hours, Easy Walk
- To Tei Wan to Big Wave Bay, 8.5 km, 2.75 hours, Very Difficult
[edit] Green Power Hike
The Green Power Hike is a walkathon along the 50km Hong Kong Trail hosted by Green Power Hong Kong during February each year. Income from the Green Power Hike funds local environmental education in schools and the community. Green Power is an independent green organization which receives no Government subvention and is financed by public membership fees, sponsorships and donations.
[edit] Rainbow Trek
The Rainbow Trek is a team race run during October or November each year. Teams of four must complete the 50km trail together, though there is a mandatory 30 minute rest period after the first 25km. Initiated in 2005, the trek seeks to raise funds for the Rainbow Project, a local based charity trying to improve education facilities for autistic children in the territory.
