Home Made Simple

Home Made Simple is a monthly email newsletter, website and television show that features helpful tips, advice and ideas for the home. It is supported by the Procter & Gamble brands Mr. Clean, Febreze, Dawn, Cascade and Swiffer.
Home Made Simple is what marketers call a cohort site [1], a website that promotes a product or multiple products by providing helpful information, like recipes and tips, not solely advertising and marketing messages.

Home Made Simple began in 2000 as an email newsletter and website offering simple, creative ideas for their homes. [2] The newsletter is updated monthly with articles in the following categories:
- Organized Life — home organization.
- Celebrate Living — home entertaining.
- Clever Kitchen — simple recipes and kitchen ideas.
- Outside Pleasures — decorating ideas and activities for the outdoors.
- Easy Décor — interior decorating tips and advice.
- Home Mavens — projects for a group of friends to do together.
Each article also includes songs from Julie’s Jukebox, an online music store. Visitors can purchase individual songs or “showcases,” a playlist of songs that share the same theme as the article.
The newsletter also includes product news, sweepstakes and coupon offers from the sponsoring brands.

In the summer of 2006 the Home Made Simple TV show debuted on the US cable network TLC. [3]. It is a weekly home improvement reality show based on the Home Made Simple newsletter/website.
The hosts of the show, Allison Fishman, Patrick Brown, Jordan Ruderman, Stephanie Marshall, June Saruwatari, Scott McCray and Nadia Geller are called the “Home Mavens”. [4]
The featured guest of each week’s show is nominated by their friends on the Home Made Simple website. Then the friends help the featured guest with some projects in their home, with guidance from the hosts.
Common projects on the show are easy meals, minor fix-its, room organization and interior decorating. The Home Mavens share expert tips in each episode.
Products from Mr. Clean, Febreze, Dawn, Cascade and Swiffer, the sponsoring brands, are used throughout the show.
