HMAS Melbourne

Three ships of the Royal Australian Navy have been named HMAS Melbourne after Melbourne, the capital city of Victoria and second largest city in Australia.
- Melbourne (1912) - Chatham class light cruiser. Broken up in 1929.
- Melbourne (1945) - Majestic class aircraft carrier launched as HMS Majestic, transferred to the RAN in 1947 and renamed. Was involved in 2 collisions with destroyers, firstly HMAS Voyager (D04) in 1964 and, secondly USS Frank E. Evans (DD-754) in 1969, sinking both. Sold to China in 1985 and studied before being broken up.
- Melbourne (1989) - Adelaide class guided missile frigate.
