Himalaya_seen_from_snowview_2.jpg (550 × 365 pixels, file size: 36 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)
This is a low-resolution image of the Himalayas as seen from Snow View taken by Tom Cockrem and downloaded by me (Sanjay Tiwari 00:43, 28 October 2006 (UTC)) from the website [1] for fair use in the Wikipedia article on Nainital.
[edit] Fair Use Rationale
Although this image, Himalaya_seen_from_snowview_2.jpg, may be subject to copyright, I (Sanjay Tiwari 00:43, 28 October 2006 (UTC)) feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- the image will be used only in the Wikipedia article Nainital to illustrate the view of the Himalaya (Trisul, Nanda Devi) from Snowview
- Images of the Himalaya from Snow View are not available in the public domain.
- This image is being used purely for an educational purpose.
- Since this is a low-resolution image, it will not adversely affect the copyright owner's ability to market the original image.
This work is copyrighted and unlicensed. It does not fall into one of the blanket acceptable non-free content categories listed at Wikipedia:Non-free content#Images or Wikipedia:Non-free content#Audio clips. However, it is believed that the use of this work in the article "Nainital" :
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content and Wikipedia:Copyrights. |
