"Hi-Definition" is the third single by Lupe Fiasco from his sophomore album, Lupe Fiasco's The Cool. It features Snoop Dogg and an upcoming R&B singer who is signed to Lupe Fiasco's 1st & 15th Entertainment, Pooh Bear.[1] It was produced by Alshux. Lupe has stated that one of the concepts of the idea for this song was that the "West Side meets the West Side".[2] This is in reference to him being from western Chicago, which is located in the Midwest, and Snoop Dogg, whom is from California, which is located on the West coast.
Lupe makes a reference to fellow Muslim rapper Q-Tip during his second verse, saying "In your ear like the maker of the Vivrant / As-Salāmu `Alaykum to the maker of the Vivrant...". Vivrant is a term that Q-Tip invented, which is a cross between vibrant and vivacious.
