Henderson Field (IATA: MDY, ICAO: PMDY) is a public airport located on Sand Island in Midway Atoll, an unincorporated territory of the United States.
Operation of the airfield is subsidized by Boeing to provide a geographically desirable emergency landing site in the mid-Pacific. Under ETOPS aviation standards, Henderson Field provides two-engine jet airliners a viable landing site should an engine fail while crossing the Pacific.
