HD Theater is a high-definition television network from Discovery Communications Inc., owners of the Discovery Channel. It launched nation-wide in 2002 as Discovery HD Theater and is now the most widely distributed basic cable HD network. The network was rebranded to its current name on September 22, 2007, due to Discovery Network launching HD simulcasts of Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, TLC and The Science Channel.
