Haruka Shimotsuki (霜月はるか Shimotsuki Haruka?, born November 15) is a singer and dōjin composer known for her vocal themes in the Atelier Iris and Ar tonelico series. She also wrote the lyric and sang the ending themes to the two seasons of Rozen Maiden as well as the OVA under the name "kukui", a unit with myu.

[edit] Personal History/Career

  • Started her works in 2001. Sang main themes for games, and did some lyrics writing and composing. Also released her own original works (doujin works) under the name of Maple Leaf and tieLeaf. Received attention when she sang the ending theme Toumei Shelter for Rozen Maiden, under the name of refio+Shimotsuki Haruka. Her major commercial album "Ashiato Rhythm" was also released later.
  • After singing Toumei Shelter she and myu (a member of refio) formed kukui.
  • When she was an independent singer, she was once a supporting member of Sound Horizon. She also made an appearance as a guest singer in the concert held in 2006.
  • Original works are mostly ethnic music and fantasy music, and most of her songs are soft in tone.
  • Has stage fright, and so isn't good in talking in front of people. Like games, and is a big fan of the Tales (series).
  • Has formed group with Rekka Katakiri (片霧烈火) and Chata (茶太) many times, and they have been good friends for a long time.
  • Besides singing, composing and writing the lyrics for the opening theme and ending theme for the PC visual novel Relict~Toki no Wasure Mono~ (Relict～トキの忘れもの～), she also composed other tracks (about 7) for the game. Wind instrument and string instrument are heavily used for the tracks, and she was able to exhibit her talent in ethnic music. Furthermore, it was her first time in composing songs for a game, and her feeling at that time was recorded in the booklet attached to the Image Soundtrack of the game.
  • In the PS2 game Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia, she composed and performed the songs of one of the heroines, Aurica Nestmille, and took part in singing the ending theme EXEC_PHANTASMAGORIA/..
  • Will be taking part in the sequel Ar tonelico II: Sekai ni Hibiku Shoujotachi no Metafalica as the singing voice of one of the heroines, Luca Truelywaath and will take part in the ending song EXEC_with.METHOD_METAFALICA/.
  • Held a solo concert (時計台のある街より ～Haruka Shimotsuki Solo Live Lv.1～) on 2006 August 10th.
  • She formed a collaborative doujin music circle called tieLeaf with Ao Sorano and Nao Hiyama. They have released 2 products. A 72 page comic book and one CD with the title of Tsukioi no Toshi (also called Leozet Lag Ecliss in an unknown language), and another comic and novel text story book that was 28 pages and a single CD with the same name as the book, Lip-Aura, a side-story for Tsukioi no Toshi.
  • Her collaborative circle tieLeaf has released a new project, an ADV titled Neji Maku Tsuki. It will serve as a tie-in to Tsukioi no Toshi. The game's release date is unknown.[1]
  • 2nd solo concert (Haruka Shimotsuki solo live LV.2 ～シモツキンはレベルが１あがった～) is scheduled to be held on 2008 July 13th.[2]
