Hanušovice (German: Hannsdorf) is a town in the Czech Republic. The name means "John’s (Hanuš’s) village". In 1923 Hanušovice became a town. The town is located on the Morava river. Hanušovice is a natural centre of the area and an important rail junction. There is the known Holba brewery.

The town was mentioned for the first time in 1325 as a possession of Kolštejn noble. Most of Hanušovice was nearly destroyed in the Hussite wars and the Czech-Hungary Wars in 15th century. The town was repopulated by new settlers. The settlers also established Holba village (German: Halbseit, „half side“, the village was situated on the left side of the road). Later, The Hanušovice and the Holba was united.

In 19th century many factories was founded, recently there are brewery only.

Before Second World war Hanušovice had 3351 citizens, 556 citizens were Czechs, the rest was German.

During Second World War there was founded the branch of the Gross Rosen concentration camp and Polish Jewesses had to work in factories (The English prisoners of war also worked there).

After Second World War all Germans was expelled to Germany.

The recently number citizens are 3438 people, 1720 men and 1731 women.
