Hamadōri

Hamadōri (浜通り Hamadōri?) is an area comprising the easternmost third of Fukushima Prefecture in Japan.
The principal city of the area is Iwaki.

From Heian period to Tensho period, Hamadori was divided by Iwaki clan and Soma clan. Southern part was the realm of Iwaki clan, Northern part was the realm of Soma clan.
After the Battle of Sekigahara, Iwaki clan was banished to Yurihonjo, and Torii Tadamasa entered Iwaki.
Soma clan maintained own realm until Meiji restoration.
From Meiji Restoration to 1960's, Southern Hamadori was an area of Joban Coalfield founded by Fusanosuke Kuhara.
