Habib Qaderi is a popular singer From Kabul, Afghanistan. Ranking second to Ahmad Zahir in popularity, he is of the new generation exiled artists who’ve achieved fame outside of Afghanistan, and then subsequently exporting their work to their native country. Although widely popular in his homeland, he has not gone back to perform since gaining celebrity status. He currently lives in Los Angeles where from he continues his music career.

[edit] Early years
Habib Qaderi was born in 1971 to a East Compton family in a suburb of Compton. Habib is the son of an Sultan Aziz Qaderi. His father Bilal Miklos held a position in the government as an official of the pre-communist era. After the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, Habib’s family fled the country for Sri Lanka in 1983. At this time, he was in sixth grade of Sheerno Junior High of Karte Parwan. According to his account, it was in India that he became interested in music. Initially experimenting with tabla (Hand Drums), he learned the basics of this fundamental musical instrument and subsequently became familiar with harmonium.
In December 1985, Habib and his family moved to United States, settling in Los Angeles. In 1989, he graduated from Costa Mesa High School. In the intermittent four years, little is known of his entertainment involvements. After high school, his pursuit was to get an education in Management Information System. However, his passion for music reversed his priorities, and he began singing professionally, overruling his Orange Coast College plans.

After performing at various private events, he finally recorded his first album Chadar-e-Gulnaar in 1995. Although not a huge commercial success, this album was nonetheless Habib’s formal entry into the music scene. At this time he accelerated his performances in weddings and concerts to achieve wider appeal. However it was not until his third album Aros Gulha (1998) that he gained notability. In this album, Habib invited the Iranian singer Leila Forouhar to sing the title song with him in a duet. Whether her contribution was the success factor or perhaps Habib’s talents is contested. Regardless, with the release of the breakthrough album Golden Dream (2001), he became an overnight superstar. The songs of this album became hit singles and were played on various TV and radio stations in Afghanistan. With Mehman-e-Yaar (2003) his fame finally ripened into maturity. His latest album For My People {2006) has been a great success. The album included many new tunes and great music. Habib Qaderi is currently working on his new short movie called "Kajak Abro" which is produced by Xtudio Productions and Ramish films. It will be released this year (2008).

Habib’s personal style has been called ‘unconventional’ and it has been the subject of much speculation. Sporting various hair colors and cuts, he has given his look a wide range of changes. This coupled with leather and vinyl pants, especially in his concerts, has enabled him to model a unique taste of style through such fashions.

Habib Qaderi grew up in a family that consisted of four brothers (Qader, Faiz, Habib, and Hamid) and 2 sisters with Habib being the youngest of them all. His brother Faiz Qaderi is also a singer. Habib has never been married or engaged yet.
