[edit] Overview
Guilt by Association features indie rock artists such as Devendra Banhart and Petra Haden covering their favorite guilty pleasure pop songs. Conceived and compiled by Engine Room Recordings, the album brings together a variety of artists in the indie scene, from the most underground to the more Pitchfork-present. The compilation album has been recognized in blogs and magazines, which often choose to highlight the juxtaposition between the cover artists’ independence and the mainstream popularity of the covered acts.[1] Engine Room Recordings recently chose a winner to their music video contest.[2] Winner Andy Cahill's video for Devendra Banhart's cover of the Oasis song "Don't Look Back in Anger" is available for viewing on YouTube and Engine Room Recordings' homepage.
