Song & lyric writer, singer & guitar player Gregory Dessypris, (Grigoris Desypris), was born in Athens, Greece, during the “Golden Era” of the 60s, and he grew up in the famous Fokionos Negri area, where most of the Greek Music Bands were based, attributing there, his first music influence…
He had his first guitar lessons, at the age of 8, and later on, he created his first garage bands, performing shows, at “Moussika Proina”, in locations such as “Kypselaki Theatre”, “The Green Park”, and other popular clubs of those days…
(Besides music, he starts flying for OLYMPIC AIRWAYS, from 1978 up to 1998).
He became member of the famous “The Idols” band, (former member was Demis Roussos),as singer and guitar player, when Mr. Vassilis Konstantinidis was leading the band. Early 1987, he formed, the “LIQUEUR BAND”, performing at Greek famous Clubs such as “OMNI LIVE”, and “BO CLUB”, until 1992… At 1992, along with his companion Elias Skrimizeas, creating the “TAKSIDIOTES (TRAVELERS) BAND”, participating in the “THESSALONIKA’s SONG CONTEST”, with two of their songs, the “S EFXARISTO” (I THANK YOU) and the “SE PARALLILOUS DROMOUS" (PARALLEL STREETS). (Antony Remmos, Eleni Tsaligopoulou, Dimitri Kokkotas, Eleni Karousaki, were some of the other competitors…) The response of their appearance was amazing, leading them to their first record deal, (1993), with “MBI”, releasing their first record, called, “TELIKOS PROORISMOS” (FINAL DESTINATION).
During an interview with Greek-American reporter Dimitri Kastanas, for the NGTV, at New York, the AEGIAN AUDIO and VIDEO s CEO George Tsapelas called Gregory, and proposed the release of the record for the US market...And so is done.
May of 1998, he is going solo, making the music, of the album “THA PARO TO TRENO”, released by “RIA MUSIC/MINOS”, with Stamatis Mesimeris lyrics, and arranged by famous Greek guitarist Christoforos Krokidis…
You can say that the record was somehow, Greek "Southern Rock" type...
Some of the most famous Greek musicians have played with him, making the 11 songs sound incredibly… The record sold out within months…
During the next years, he meets in his musical paths, with MAKIS TSIGANDES, and forming the “AGNOSTON LOIPON STOIXEION” rock band, presenting to the public his songs, along with LAVRENDIS MAHAIRITSAS and VASSILIS PAPAKONSTANDINOU’s, plus, ROLLING STONES , BON JOVI’S, and other famous international artists ones…
2005 with arranger Christoforos Krokidis once again and lyric writer Kostas Kolovos this time, releasing the "Apla kae Mberdemena" (Simple and yet Complicated) album (Polymusic/Universal)
Greg, is undersigning all songs and “Anna” s lyrics. Today, he is still on Concerts all around Greece.
