Great Lakes College is a co-educational, public secondary school, located in Forster/Tuncurry, New South Wales, a coastal area on the mid-north coast of New South Wales, Australia.Proudly a public school, Great Lakes College boasts some of the best opportunities for young adults in the state. Students are taught in modern facilities, by some of the best teachers in the state.
Formed in 2003 from a split of students and staff of Forster High School, Great Lakes College has 3 campuses (Forster Junior Campus, Tuncurry Junior Campus and Tuncurry Senior Campus) on 2 sites at Forster and Tuncurry. The college currently caters for approximately 1700 students from Years 7 to 12.[1] [2] [3]
It is a school of the New South Wales Department of Education and Training (DET), and prepares students for the School Certificate (Year 10), and the Higher School Certificate (Year 12).

Academically the school excels with UAI's often in high 90's. Recent achievements include;
A student achieving international success for his science project, achieving a UAI which placed him in the top 1% of the state and representing Australia in white water kayaking.
A student in 2006 achieving a UAI above 99, placing first in the state in drama, fifth in Person Development Health and Physical Education and representing Australia in volleyball.
In 2007, a student achieved band sixes (90+%) in all of her courses, and an excellent UAI.
The GLC dux of 2007 achieved a UAI above 98.
Academically, GLC students regularly have a strong representation in Drama, Design and Technology, Dance and Construction. Work in these courses is often presented in statewide showcases.
The school boasts many extra curricular activities.
A volleyball program, (head coach : (name removed pending permission) has allowed GLC to rank as the top volleyball school in NSW, in the boys and girls division. The open boys have been runners up in the state knockout for two consecutive years, undefeated in National Schools Division 1 and having several players on regional and state teams. The open girls have achieved great results in previous knockouts, regional competitions and national tournaments.
Previous members of the volleyball program include a student who achieved a sporting scholarship in the USA.
A world class kayaking program is available, with the college ranked as the second best school in the country.
Strong teams in debating, netball, soccer, cricket and rugby league thrust the college into the public area. The chant of G..L..C is renowned across Australia and is often regarded as a war cry.
