Gordon Wharmby

Gordon Wharmby (November 6, 1933 - May 18, 2002) was a British television actor who was born in Salford, Lancashire. He was best known for the role of Wesley Pegden in the Yorkshire sitcom Last of the Summer Wine.
Wharmby turned to acting late in his career, having previously worked as a decorator. He made one-off appearances in many British television shows, including many Yorkshire-based shows such as All Creatures Great and Small, Heartbeat and How We Used To Live, before joining the permanent cast of Last of the Summer Wine in 1984 as Wesley Pegden, having previously made a one-off appearance in 1982.
On May 18, 2002 Wharmby died of lung cancer in Abergele, Clwyd at the age of 68.
