[edit] Reception
The film was very poorly received. Famed film critic Leonard Maltin gave the film a "BOMB" rating. (The worst rating a movie can get from Maltin's point of view). He called it annoyingly, unfunny and declared it was "an embarrassing waste of talent, "and it really smells". Some other critics joked that Pesci should have returned his Oscar to the Academy after this and 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag released a month before "Gone Fishin'". The film also bombed at the box office making only $19 million domestically. Some also have said this nearly ruined Pesci's career as he has only made two movies since 1997.
[edit] Filming accident
During production of the film, stuntwoman Janet Wilder was killed when a speedboat being made to jump a ramp landed in a crowd of extras. Wilder's husband and father-in-law were also injured.[1]
