- Murugan, The god of war in Hindu Religion (Mostly worshiped by Tamil Hindus in South India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.)
- Ares, the god of war in Greek mythology
- Mars, the god of war in Roman mythology
- Enyo and Bellona, goddesses of war (and female counterparts to Ares and Mars) in Greek and Roman mythology respectively.
- Odin and Tyr, gods of war in Norse mythology
- Guan Yu, an ancient Chinese military general sometimes called the "God of War"
