Godalming College

Godalming College is a sixth form college, situated in Godalming, four miles from Guildford, Surrey, England. It is the successor to Godalming Grammar School. The 2005 Ofsted report said: The leadership and management at the College is excellent.[1] The principal is Mr David Adelman B.A.

[edit] Academic standings
The average score for A level results in 2004 was 329.4 points compared to a county average of 266.6.[2] In this year, the A level pass rate was 99% for the second year running with 80% of students achieving A to C grades, above the national average. A 100% pass rate was achieved in 35 of 47 A level subjects offered.
In 2006 the college achieved a 98.5% pass rate compared with the national pass rate of 96.6%. Of more than 2000 subject entries, over 1000 were at the top A and B grades and over 1500 at grades A to C. In 33 of the A level subjects offered by the College a 100% pass rate was achieved.

In 2000, the newly completed building achieved the Best New Building Award in the Godalming Trust Civic Design Awards.[3] Since then, two new blocks have been built, including a library block, sports hall and a performing arts building.

Notable people who attended the college include: Ingrid Lacey, actress (Drop the Dead Donkey); Stephanie Merritt, novellist and critic; and Ben Elton, comedian and writer.[4] Rikki Clarke, former Surrey and England cricketer, now at Derbyshire, Simon Shaw World Cup winning England Rugby Union Player.
