Gavin Hunter Reid

Gavin Hunter Reid was the Bishop of Maidstone from 1992 until 2001 [1]. He was born on 24 May 1934 and educated at Roan School and King's College London. Ordained Deacon in 1960 and Priest in 1961 [2], after a Curacy at St Paul’s, East Ham[3] he served in a succession of administrative posts for the Church Pastoral Aid Society before his elevation to the Episcopate. A prolific author[4], he was awarded the OBE in 1999 [5] for his contribution to the Millennium celebrations. He retired after 9 years[6]and retired to Beccles.
