Talk:Game Guru

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

1. Does this even need a page?

2. Given it's the ONLY video gaming cheats show in TV history, i'd say yet it does.

1. Well of course you'd say that. You work for the fecking channel!

3. Edited to add some more accurate history. Added the original developers and producers. Added the original launch date. Added some more presenters. Added details of original broadcast run. Added a link to the GameGuru.tv domain name (currently aliased to the original producer's website)

3. I also have a copy of the very first GameGuru overlay graphic used on the show - is there any interest in publishing it?

2. Was there any explanation of why Cellcast took over Guru from Alien Pants?

3. Cellcast wanted to keep producing Game Guru but didn't want to pay AlienPants to provide it.

2. Heh, sounds like something they'd do. They're currently working on a cake you can both have and eat at the same time! Please do add the graphic, i'd love to see it! it's a shame you can't also add video to wikipedia.

2. Do I take it i'm talking to Tom Gordon as well? and what happened with the overlay? If you post yours up, I'll post up the final overlay that was used!

[edit] Cleanup Required

While it is a valid point that this subject is justified in having a page on Wikipedia as any other, it needs a complete clean up in order to survive. If no attempt has been made to completely re-write the whole page with in a month, the page will be be sumbitted for deletion. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Auzdafluff (talkcontribs) 23:04, 11 April 2007 (UTC).

  • It's pretty hard to edit the page when bots keep reverting your edits. Also a threat to completly re-edit a page or deletion is unfair. as most of the information is already contained.
  • Whats your observation as to why it needs to be completly re-written? What seems to be the problem with it?

Completly agree with Auzdafluff's comment on the site needing a major re-write, It was confusing and unpfrofessional looking. I've completly re-written the whole page, reformatted it to a more easy to read format, added two images, added an info box for the show and overall cleaned up any misleading/confusing/irrelevant items that the page contained. The whole article looks a lot better now and more inline to what a Wikipedia page should actually look like. I did have to remove the Re-write comment though, mainly as it screwed up the layout, but also I feel the work is acceptable enough to pass and hopefully it should be acceptable enough to others. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Guru Larry (talkcontribs) 17:20, 12 April 2007 (UTC).

  • It's a really good re-edit! REALLY good! Well done Larry!!!!!

[edit] duplicate content

The sections at Game_Guru#Where_are_the_Gurus_now.3F and Game_Network#Where_are_the_Gurus_now.3F are duplicate content. One of them should be deleted. I can't decide which so I am posting here. Looks like there is some other duplicate information too. Please clean it up. (Requestion 22:32, 4 June 2007 (UTC))

How about you just leave them? The presenters worked on on not all the shows on Game Network and some changed --Guru Larry 02:19, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
The lists are identical. No reason to have duplicate copies of the same thing. I'm not even sure that list is encyclopedic enough to belong on Wikipedia. Where is the reference from a WP:RS? (Requestion 16:46, 6 June 2007 (UTC))
Reliable sourcees? Erm, GamesPress, Cellcast, 10000+ Hours of video footage, and not forgetting myself being one on the list. --Guru Larry 20:41, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Do you think that list is encyclopedic in value? If you do then please source those statements. See WP:VERIFY for more information. You also can't use your personal knowledge as a source. You may be a reliable and a knowledgeable guru but Wikipedia doesn't work like that. Wikipedia likes secondary sources. (Requestion 23:31, 6 June 2007 (UTC))
Thats very kind of you to be so flattering ^_^ What Can I use for a source? will video content on YouTube suffice? Also Press Releases on GamesPress? --Guru Larry 06:05, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
