Fu Manchu moustache
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Fu Manchu moustache takes its name from the fictional character of Fu Manchu, who was often depicted with such a style of moustache on film. The character, a creation of English author Sax Rohmer, did not have a moustache in the original novels. The infamous facial hair first appeared in the British serial The Mystery of Dr. Fu Manchu, in 1923.
A "fu manchu" is a full moustache that extends downward past the mouth and on either side of the chin. Often, the ends of the moustache will hang past the jaw line with pointed or tapered ends. It is not to be confused with the more common horseshoe (or "biker") moustache.
"Fu Manchus" stereotypically appear on Chinese characters in both film and television.
