Frederick Lewis Weis

Rev. Frederick Lewis Weis, Th.D. (1895-1967), reverend, best known as author of a number of well-known genealogical books.

Born at Cranston, Rhode Island on 22 Aug 1895 to John Peter Carl Weis and his wife Georgina Lewis, both natives of Massachusetts. Second child of four children.

In April of 1913, he entered the United States Naval Academy, graduating in March of 1917. ^[1] He served on the Wisconsin and North Dakota and retired prematurely due to illness. He was active in various genealogical organizations and authored numerous books and articles. He is today still remembered as a foundational author in many areas of genealogical research.

He died at Brattleboro, Vermont, on 11 April 1967.
