Frank Van Essen

Frank van Essen is a drummer and violinist who plays in celtic folk themed band Iona.

Born in The Netherlands in 1967 and from a musical family. He took up drumming at the age of 15. Married with Marlou.
[edit] Musical career
Frank's first band was called Judah. He joined Dutch worship band Ronduit Praise Band.
Frank has been a session and live musician with numerous artists who include Margaret Becker, Rick Cua, Marcel McArthur, Jessy Dixon, Billy and Sarah Gaines, Joanne Hogg, Susan Ashton, Julie and Buddy Miller, Nina Åström, Adrian Snell, Chris Eaton, Ralph van Manen, David Fitzgerald and Barry & Batya Segal.
Van Essen in 1989 met Dave Bainbridge who was touring with Adrian Snell's The Passion. He eventually joined Iona in 1990. He left for a time later in the 1990s but returned regularly to add his music to the band's live and studio work. He eventually rejoined on a more permanent basis for the recording of Woven Cord.
