Forest Area Township is a township in Lake of the Woods County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 7 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 503.7 square miles (1,304.5 km²). 502.8 square miles (1,302.2 km²) of it is land and 0.9 square miles (2.3 km²) of it (0.18%) is water.
