Florida Air Academy (FAA) is a private co-ed boarding school founded in 1961 by Jonathan Dwight, located in Melbourne, Florida. Students grade 6-12 are provided college-preparatory education. There are currently 480 students and 45 faculty members[citation needed]. The school has a very high percentage of people who move on to prestigious colleges around the country.

School Memberships include NAIS, SAIS, TABS, AMCSUS. Florida Air Academy is accredited by SACS.

[edit] Cadet Life

Cadets rise every morning at reveille. They eat breakfast in the cafeteria. The day students arrive on buses. All of the squadrons form to start the day.

The day has eight class periods and a ninth period which varies daily. On Monday through Thursday, there is a tenth period where students may get individual help from their teachers if they need it. On the weekends the boarding students have the choice of going home on leave if they choose to.

The jazz band played at the Class 3A Basketball State Finals in 2007.

[edit] Drum and Bugle Corps.

The Drum and Bugle Corps corp. is made up of the instruments from the jazz band but in larger numbers with the addition of bass drums and the quads. Other instruments include contra, soprano bugle, mellophone, baritone, and a trap set. The D&B Corp has performed at the Edison Festival of Lights, in Ft. Myers, FL.
