Far North, South Australia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Far North is a region of South Australia.
It is both the largest and also the least populated part of the state and much of the region is desert.
Most people need permits to enter Aboriginal reserves, the Woomera Prohibited Area and several National Parks in the region.
The only significant roads in the area are:
- The Stuart Highway from Port Augusta to Alice Springs.
- The Oodnadatta Track
- The Birdsville Track
- The Strzelecki Track
For most people, the term "Far North" refers to that part of South Australia north of a line roughly from Ceduna through Port Augusta to Broken Hill.
