Welcome! I'm Erik, a Wikipedia editor who dedicates himself largely to film articles. I've worked steadfastly to improve articles for recent and upcoming films, and I do my best to help others do the same. Film articles are appealing because they are oftentimes more workable with their limited scopes as opposed to some broader topics found on Wikipedia. I've particularly taken an interest to upcoming films because background information about them are available online more now than ever before. My two biggest tools in this regard are RSS feeds and Google Alerts, but I've also learned to master Google searching and to access relevant databases through a university account. All this information can be overwhelming at times, so when I don't have the opportunity to improve an article with the latest batch of resources, I leave them on the articles' talk pages so others can come by and hopefully use them to improve the articles.

I consider the highlight of my efforts to be at Fight Club. I hope to offer similar treatment to other film articles, and it's not always easy to focus one's efforts with so much one can do. I'm fairly active as one of the coordinators at WikiProject Films, helping to shape consensus for the betterment of film articles. One of the biggest changes I've seen with the WikiProject is a stronger understanding of implementing non-free images, which have long been an issue on Wikipedia. Also considering how projects can come and go in the film industry, the notability guidelines for films has been written to be more explicit in determining the existence of a future film's article. I consider myself well-versed in structuring and expanding film articles, and I'm open to new approaches. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my user talk page.

Collaborative effort
Personal effort
  • Good article The Fountain (guide) was one of the first articles I edited on Wikipedia, as I was interested in the film's premise early on. This article was my very first pet project, and since it was a film that received little attention, it served as a good first article for me to hone my editing and research skills. I believe that this article is the most comprehensive source of information about the film found anywhere. The article achieved GA status on December 7, 2006. I believe that the Critical reaction section still needs specific criticism of the film, and that Themes needs to be reshaped to move from garden-variety movie reviewers toward interpretations by those with academic credentials.
  • Good article Fight Club is a personal favorite film, and prior to my involvement, the article was in poor shape, consisting of OR-based "Clues about Durden's identity", "Differences between novel and film", and "Trivia". I have improved the article significantly to take on a more encyclopedic nature, especially in terms of Production and Themes. The article achieved GA status on June 11, 2007. I do not consider the article complete, though; it still requires a more comprehensive Critical reaction section (especially negative backlash at its debut), as well as an Academic interpretations section based on the numerous academic studies citing the film. I eventually hope to promote it for FA status.
  • Good article Road to Perdition was previously an underdeveloped article that was mainly poor on citation and lacked a fleshed-out Production section. The article reached GA status on July 25, 2007.
  • Good article Surf Ninjas is a film from my childhood that has some nostalgic value for me. It sure was painful to write the wholly negative "Critical reaction" section! (Feel free to check it to ensure that it's NPOV.)
  • Sunshine is a decent science fiction film from Danny Boyle. Like with The Fountain, I think that this is a pretty comprehensive article about the film. I still need to revise the Critical reaction and Scientific accuracy sections and see if another editor can't help with information from the DVD's special features. Then I think it'd be good to go for a Good Article nomination.
  • Doomsday is a film I haven't seen yet from Neil Marshall, who directed the brilliant The Descent. Probably will wait till the UK theatrical release and the DVD release before attempting a Good Article nomination.
