[edit] Introduction

The command and support vessel Tasuja is currently used as the naval diving vessel of the Estonian Navy and the Mineships Division. A silver sword is in the center of the coat of arms of the vessel. The sword points to Tasuja´s importance during the ancient Estonian Freedom Fight in the 13th century AD and also points to the historical Estonian Navy vessels Tasuja role during the Estonian War of Independence. The ships motto is in Latin "More Maiorum" which means in English "As our forefathers". The coat of arms was designed by Priit Herodes. On 8 July 2006 a cooperation contract was signed between the Kunda city council and the diving vessel Tasuja which gave the vessel a right to wear the Kunda town coat of arms and to introduce the city in all foreign harbors across the world.

[edit] History

The EML Tasuja (A432) is built in Denmark, in a Svendborg Værft shipyard in Denmark. The vessel was launched on 7 June 1977 and she entered service a year later on 14 June 1978. The Danish Navy decommissioned Lindormen in 2004 and donated the vessels to the Estonian Navy. The coat of arms was presented on a ceremony on 12 April in 2006.[1][2]
