[edit] History
El Meson was founded on July 4, 1972 by Felipe Perez Sr. The first store was on a strip mall in Aguadilla[2]. The restaurant quickly became very popular. In 1986, Felipe's eldest son, Felipe Perez Jr. became president and opened the second store in Mayagüez Mall. In 1988, the store in Plaza Las Américas was founded, considered a large milestone for a small company. The company continued to grow around the island. In 1996 it opened its current headquarters in Mayaguez. The store also created a new concept called Meso Express found on gas stations. There are also several stores joined with Baskin Robbins and Dunking Donuts,as well as a concept aimed at a more healthy menu called Meso Lite. Today the company has stores all around the island, including one in Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. It is one of the largest food chains in Puerto Rico.
