Ekushey Padak

Ekushey Padak (Bengali: একুশে পদক) is one of the highest civilian awards in Bangladesh. It was introduced in memory of those who died during the Bengali Language Movement demonstrations (Bengali: বাংলা ভাষা আন্দোলন) that took place on February 21, 1952. [1]

The award consists of 25,000 Taka, an 18 carat gold medal weighing 3 tolas and a certificate of honour. [1] The medal was designed by the artist Nitun Kundu. [2]
