Efir 2 (Bulgarian: Ефир 2) was a Bulgarian state-owned TV channel, operated by the Bulgarian National Television. It was founded in 1974 and discontinued transmission on May 31, 2000, being substituted by the private bTV on the next day. Efir 2's most popular programme was its weekly magazine show "Vsyaka Nedelya" (English: Each Sunday) and for broadcasting the Italian Serie A football games (which in fact were part of the very same Sunday show).
At 21:10 on May 31, 2000 Efir 2 "said Good-bye!" to the Bulgarian viewers with a film, produced by Ekaterina Genova, called "Efir 2 - a photo for a memory" (Bulgarian: Ефир 2 - снимка за спомен). After this movie, Efir 2 broadcast a short news report and around 22:15 the signal of Efir 2 was switched off
In 2008 BNT announced that it will relaunch Efir 2 along with 2 new TV channels.Probably it will launch before the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics. But it will only broadcast on satellite and cable TV services due to lack terrestrial analogue frequencies
