Edward Hyslop Milligan, the Quaker historian, is the author of The Biographical dictionary of British Quakers in commerce and industry, 1775-1920, [1], includes entries for some 2,800 people. He is usually, informally, known as "Ted Milligan".

He was born in 1922. Educated at Ackworth School and the University of Reading. He was the Librarian an Archivist of Meeting for Sufferings of Britain Yearly Meeting, responsible for the Library at Friends House, London for from 1957 to 1985 (25 years). He was succeeded by Malcolm J Thomas.

On his retirement, he was presented with a Festschrift: A Quaker miscellany for Edward H. Milligan, edited by David Blamires, Jeremy Greenwood and Alex Kerr (1985) [2]. This includes:
