Edgeworthstown or Mostrim (Irish: Meathas Troim) is a market town in County Longford, Ireland. Its name derives from the Edgeworth Family (which includes novelist Maria Edgeworth) who have a long association with the town.

The town has a railway station on the DublinSligo railway line. Edgeworthstown railway station opened on 8 November 1855.[1]

Industries include animal feed processing and pet food manufacturing. The family estate of Henry Essex Edgeworth de Firmont was nearby. Edgeworthstown has expanded significantly in recent years with new housing estates and updated transport infrastructure.

Indeed, the tax subsidies granted to residential property construction has led to many houses being built which remain empty and appear to be surplus to requirements. [2] Daft.ie, Ireland's leading property website, has more than one property for sale in Edgeworthstown for every two residents of the village.[3]

In 2006, the town's biggest employer, C&D Foods limited, was damaged by fire and over half of the factory was destroyed. However it plans to increase production in 2009. Edgeworthstown Co-Operative has done tremendous work providing sports and recreational facilities locally.

The N4 National primary route formerly ran along the Main Street, but the town centre was by-passed in July 2006. The busy N55 route from Athlone to Cavan still passes through the town centre.
