Edgewood (Atlanta)

Edgewood is a mostly-residential and diverse neighborhood in Atlanta, located approximately four miles or six kilometers east of downtown Atlanta. Edgewood was originally its own town, prior to the city's 1909 annexation across the county line from Fulton into DeKalb. While the entire Atlanta-in-DeKalb area is sometimes called "east Atlanta", the neighborhood of East Atlanta is to the south-southwest of Edgewood. Kirkwood is immediately to the east of Edgewood, with Reynoldstown just to the west.
[edit] Edgewood Retail District
The Edgewood Retail District is a $110 million, 44-acre (17.6-hectare) undertaking off Moreland Avenue, on the fringe of Little Five Points. Built by Sembler on land formerly owned by Atlanta Gas Light in northwest Edgewood, it is made up of 540,000 square feet or just over 50,000 square meters of retail, including the first intown Lowe's home improvement store. Other tenants include Target, Best Buy, Kroger, Barnes & Noble, Office Depot, Bed Bath & Beyond, Petco, Ross Dress for Less, and Five Guys Burgers and Fries. [1]
