I'm an American who has been living in Germany for the past 20 odd years. I have a degree in Computer Sciences from the University of Applied Sciences in Augsburg, Germany with an interest in history and philosophy. [edit] My political views
As I have edited a few contentious issues in the field of politics, I feel some should know about my views.
- I believe that the U.S. is fundamentally good. Having said that, I don't believe that the U.S. has always done things right and has always lived up to the ideal it has set itself. But it is this ideal that makes us Americans - something unique in history.
- I believe that most people are fundamentally good. That does not mean they always do good. Ignorance, poverty and poor judgement have been the mother of enough problems.
- In that light I believe that the more politicians have acted in the interest of the people, the better the nation has done. The U.S. has profited from a big share of visionary leaders, who were willing to explore new paths.
- I believe that most politicians in the western democracies intend good for their people. That doesn't mean that I agree with their policies. Intention does not protect from stupidity.
- I don't subscribe to any ideology. Nothing is worse then an ideology. That includes as much religion as communism.
- Communism doesn't work. There is a core of good intention in it, but it doesn't work.
- War is evil. It sometimes is the lesser evil. Sometimes
In that spirit, if you dislike anything I write, talk with me. I promise I'll be as open minded as humanly possible. I'm aware of that like every other person, I have blind spots.
