[edit] History
The station opened on March 15, 1955 as one of the original stations on the CTS Rapid Transit.[1] The original station, which had an entrance on the east side of East 105th Street, lasted almost 50 years.
On January 11, 2005, RTA broke ground for a reconstruction of the station.[2] The new station was located just west of the original station and included a new entrance on Quincy Avenue. The new $1.3 million station opened on November 4, 2005.[3] Further construction of a second entrance on East 105th Street is planned after a new bridge is built on East 105th Street.
Cuyahoga County owns the property across Quincy Avenue from the reconstructed station and is building a new Juvenile Court and Detention Center on the site.[4] Construction of the new facility is scheduled for 2007, and, when completed, it should increase traffic through the station.
