Dynasty Warriors (三國無双 Sangokumusō?) is a fighting game developed and published by KOEI. It was released on December 1, 1997 for the PlayStation. Unlike the later games in the series, Dynasty Warriors was a fighting game. The graphics were similar to Tekken.
In Japan, the game was released as Sangokumusō, however, the next installment Dynasty Warriors 2 was completely different from the original Dynasty Warriors, as a result Dynasty Warriors 2 has been entitled in Japan as Shin Sangokumusō, while it was released as Dynasty Warriors 2 in North America, leading to the discrepancy in title numbers.
The fighting system in Dynasty Warriors was fairly complex. All combat was weapon-based, and controlling one of several famous characters from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the player's aim was to parry the enemy's strikes with considerable timing and recognition, leaving the enemy vulnerable to attack.

- Dian Wei
- Xu Zhu
- Zhou Yu
- Lu Xun
- Taishi Ci
- Diao Chan
- Zhuge Liang
- Cao Cao
- Lu Bu
In addition to this list, the following characters could also be unlocked: Sun Shang Xiang, Toukichi and Nobunaga.
Dynasty Warriors 1 does not feature as many stages as other Dynasty Warriors Games. Stages basically all start off with The Yellow Turban Rebellion. Stages are in Morning, Noon, Dusk.
Edit Modes- Edit Modes are not in dynasty warriors.
The next game in the series, Dynasty Warriors 2, was a great departure in genre and style.
