[edit] Archiving talk pages

There are a few methods for archiving talk pages. This is the one that I use.

If you look to the left hand side of the page, there is a "toolbox" section. Find the link there named "Permanent link" and right click on it. If you are using Firefox, select "Copy link location. If you are using IE, select "Copy shortcut".

Edit the talk page and remove all of the content that you want to archive. Then enter something like Archive: [<paste the link you copied here> 1]. Save the page.

When you look at the page, you will now see a link that takes you to the old version of the page. This maintains the full discussion history for people to view if they are interested. --GraemeL (talk) 13:52, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Merging

Odds are good that major contributors will have the pages you are proposing be merged on their watchlists, so if you place {{mergeto}} or {{mergefrom}} on the page, they will probably come comment on the proposal at the relevant talk page. If no one says anything initially, then leaving a few notes requesting comment on the talk page would definitely be a good idea.

I'm not clearly visualizing what you're asking in your other question about expanding the list though. Could you show me specifically what you're talking about? MC MasterChef :: Leave a tip 22:24, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, ok, it's a little deeper story, and for simplification i left out the details. I actually had a username on wikipedia before this one, but it was very common on the net, including someone else having it passworded on freenode, so for simplification i am starting a new one. but my old one was Pojo, and you can read (and i'm seeing this one thing through under that name) Talk:List_of_MMORPGs to see what i'm talking about
Ah, I think I see what you mean now. I don't really do any work on lists on Wikipedia so I'm probably not the best person to advise you here, but in my experience most "list" articles are just that: bulleted article links. I would definitely agree with Jean-Phillipe's advice to you to go ahead and add this information to the individual articles, but if you'd also like to present an overview table of information, I don't see why you couldn't create a List of 3D MMORPGs by statistics or something similarly-titled, which could in turn be linked to from that List of MMORPGs article and presumably the MMORPG article itself. There is a Computer and video games Wikiproject here, that you might consider asking at, to get more perspective from users who share a similar interest in the topic.
Hope this helps! MC MasterChef :: Leave a tip 04:22, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
Ok, that is very helpful. I'm just too new to know whether it is approrpriate to have two lists that target the same information. my worry would be that they don't have the same items for one reason or another, but knowing that it is ok will be helpful. i actually have been working on some other articles in Computer and video games while waiting for responses on this, so i will definitely ask there. thanks --Duozmo 09:21, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] MMO list

I saw your notes on the last of MMORPGs talk page about turning things into a table. I would be happy to hand over the work that I've already done. It's in OpenOffice format and not trivially converted for Wikipedia, but it shouldn't be too hard. If you would like we can talk about it, just leave a note on my talk page with some way to get in touch - email and/or IM. Cheers --Duozmo 21:06, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Yeah i'd like to take a look at what you've done so far. Send me an email or reply on my talk page. Cheers, Jacoplane 22:49, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
