Dream.1 Light Weight Grandprix 2008 1st Round was the inaugural event of the mixed martial arts promotion, DREAM. It took place on Saturday, on March 15, 2008 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama City, Japan.

The event featured seven qualification bouts in the DREAM Lightweight (70 kg/154 lbs) class, along with a trio of open-weight fights. The evening's Main Event was a DREAM Lightweight Grand Prix 2008 elimination bout matchup featuring last year's HERO'S Middleweight Champion, J.Z. Calvan of Brazil and Japanese judoka Shinya Aoki. All bouts were fought under DREAM mixed martial arts rules, with a 10 min first and 5 min second round. It attracted a sellout crowd of 19,120 and was broadcast live across Japan on the TBS television network.^[1]

The winner of the Lightweight tournament will be declared at DREAM.5, on July 21, 2008 in Osaka, Japan. ^[2]

Hansen defeated Boku by two round unanimous decision (3-0).

Buscape defeated Miyata at 7:37 in the 1 round by rear naked choke submission.

• Katsuhiko Nagata def. Artur Oumakhanov

Nagata defeated Oumakhanov by two round unanimous decision (3-0).

Ishida defeated Jong by two round unanimous decision (3-0).

• Mirko Filipović def. Tatsuya Mizuno

Filipović defeated Mizuno at 0:56 in the 1 round by ground and pound KO.

• Eddie Alvarez def. Andre Amade

Alvarez defeated Amade at 6:47 in the 1 round by referee stoppage TKO.

• Tatsuya Kawajiri def. Kultar Gill

Kawajiri defeated Gill by two round unanimous decision (3-0).

Lightweight Grandprix 1st Round Fight #10

• Shinya Aoki vs. Gesias Calvancanti

Calvancanti delivered an unintentional illegal elbow at 3:46 in the 1 round and the match as ruled as No Contest.
