Dragan Đilas

Dragan Đilas (Serbian: Драган Ђилас) (born 1967 in Belgrade, Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Serbian politician, businessman, and current minister in the Government of Serbia. He holds the function of the Minister without Portfolio and is in charge of coordinating the National Investment Plan.
He is a member of the Democratic Party (DS).

[edit] Early career
Đilas graduated from the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a journalist at Radio Index and in 1989 became one of the founders of Radio B92 where he later became the news editor.
Đilas was active in opposing the regime of Slobodan Milošević, leading the student protest in 1991 and 1992. He actively participated in various anti-regime rallies between 1996 and 2000.

Since 2001, Đilas co-owns a company called Direct Media, a media house that sells advertising space in various Serbian electronic media outlets. The company also offers ad rights in large sporting events such as the World Cup, Olympics, and World Basketball Championships.

Even though he was politically active in various forms since his early youth, Đilas officially entered politics in 2004 when he joined the Democratic Party (DS).
On October 1, 2004 he became the director of the People’s Office (Народна канцеларија, Narodna kancelarija), body instituted by the newly elected President of Serbia Boris Tadić.

Đilas is the founder and vice president of Naša Srbija humanitarian organisation for children who in the wars in the territory of the former Yugoslavia were left without one or both parents.
He is divorced, with two children.
