Douglas Sommer is a professional bassist in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. He also does many outreaches and participates in many recording sessions. He also teaches at Kennesaw State University.
He has been a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra since 1989. Prior to his arrival in Atlanta, Mr. Sommer held positions with the orchestras in Columbus, San Francisco, Portland, and San Jose. His teachers include Lawrence Wolfe, S. Charles Siani, Edwin Barker, Stephen Tramontozzi, and Hal Robinson. He has performed in the summer festivals at Tanglewood, Spoleto, and Grand Teton and performs frequently with the Atlanta Chamber Players. He has been a member of Kennesaw State University since 1997.
