Dominic Patten

Dominic Patten (born 1969 in England) is an award-winning Canadian journalist, television host and author. He has lived in England, Spain, the U.S. and all over Canada. In his work he draws equally from classical Greek authors, rock ‘n roll, political history, French renaissance design and film & media disciplines.
Patten has written for The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, Salon.com, The Washington Times, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, The Vancouver Sun, and The National Post.
Formerly the Culture Correspondent for the CTV National News with Lloyd Robertson in Canada, Patten was also the co-creator and host of “21©” (www.21c.ca) CTV's current affairs show which ran from 2001-2004. Among the stories covered were the Toronto SARS crisis, the 2002 World Cup, World Youth Day 2002, and a series on the decline of the Recording Industry.
Patten’s strong commitment to innovation, originality, and populism helped make “21©” both a critical and a ratings success for CTV. In 2003 he was nominated for a Gemini Award, the Canadian equivalent of the Emmys, for Best News Magazine Segment for "Out of Control" - a study of Parent Abuse.
Patten was a producer and on-air correspondent for CBC TV's award-winning media series “Undercurrents” as well as a popular guest on many shows including Global TV's “Global Morning”, CHUM's “Media Television”, MuchMoreMusic's “Listed”, TVO's current affairs series “Studio 2”, CBC Radio's “Here and Now”, The Sports Network's “Off The Record”, TALK TV's “The Chatroom”, and CTV's “Canada AM”.
In 2004 he became one of the founding board members for Business for Diplomatic Action, a US-based non-profit organization dedicated to public diplomacy [1]

He is also currently writing “1972 - The First Year of the 21st Century” (www.1972rocks.com ) for publication by HarperCollins in the USA and McClelland & Stewart in Canada in 2007.
