[edit] PMS Clan

Hi you left me a message under my IP, but as I'm unregistered and my IP is likely to change - i thought it best to write here instead - hope that's okay. :-)

You asked why I reverted your edit, well here is my explanation.

1. The PMS clan are not only American, this is wrong in your edit. (a minor point I know)

2. Your version includes this quote:

"PMS members compete in various competitions, but have not achieved notable accomplishments in these. They claim however, that their goal is to provide a safe and fun playing environment for other female gamers"

The goal of PMS clan is not to win events, this is not a claim - it is a fact. PMS clan have an open recruit for ANY female player. No judgement on skill is used the in the recruitment process. You have to regularly play games (and meet with the clan several times a week) but you do not have to be good. Consequentially PMS clan doesn't not win loads of events. Your article makes the focus on event scores and points out the lack of results. This is irrelevant to the clan. The clan exists to give a positive environment for female gamers.

3. The reverted article pointed all of this out and was referenced. It was ALREADY very recently rewritten to take accounts of other peoples issues and points. Your re-edit added no value to this, and seemed to be unnecessarily negative.

Thanks - Cin :-) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.31.77.149 (talk) 19:26, 22 February 2007 (UTC).

I have the feeling that PMS only wishes to tell half the story. It's bad enough that PMS members edit the PMS article (reeks of vanity), but they do not seem to be able to maintain a NPOV. For instance, the following claim: "PMS members compete in various co-ed competitions, and because of this have become well known as female gamers in a primarially male dominated industry." PMS is not well know for competing in competitions, because they have never performed well in any competition. With the exception of the CGI thing, which was an exhibition and was set up to ensure a female player would get a place in the final. The one reason why PMS is 'known' is because of a special on some TV channel. Nothing more, nothing less. Still the word competition is used twice in the article. If the focus is to be put on competition, tell the full story. Otherwise, don't tell anything at all.
As per specific points: 1. PMS is an American organization, which makes it an American clan, no matter where their members come from. This is a standard convention used for any club (or clan in this case).
2. There is a difference between a fact and a claim. A fact is that grass is generally green. A claim would be that I like beer. See the difference? :)
Right now, the article just seems overly positive, for a group which probably does not pass WP:BIO anyway. Just something to consider. -- Laurens Hoek 19:57, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

---It has already been discussed as WP:BIO and already passed. In the same way that you feel the current version is overly positive, I feel that your version is overly negative. Perhaps there is some neutral ground somewhere and the next edit can be one we both agree on. Thanks - Cin :-)

Well I think it is best to remove the explicit notion of competing, since PMS is obviously not notable for its competitive achievements, as opposed to for instance SK Gaming or MeetYourMakers, who are top professionals in their field. The only 'achievement' of PMS would be that it is a large female gaming clan. But deeming that notable, would be discriminating by gender, since there are many large male gaming clans that are just as large, but will never be notable. We might as well add articles for every scouts group in the world if we go down that path ;) -- Laurens Hoek 11:12, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of WSVG

An editor has nominated WSVG, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/World Series of Video Games and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. [edit] Team zEx

Re: your neutrality dispute tag. Could you please outline your rationale for that tag on the talk page, so that any and all concerned editors can begin dicussion on whether or not the article violates NPOV and how we can rectify that. I will gladly discuss with you any issues you might have, but you'd need to outline and explain your issues with the article. Please do so on the article talk space and not in either of our userspaces. // 3R1C 18:45, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Category:British electronic sports teams

Please do not remove content from Wikipedia, as you did to Category:British electronic sports teams. It is considered vandalism. If you think an article should be deleted, please use deletion process, in stead of blanking the page. In this case, we're talkuing about a category which survived a CfD, so it's likely to survive any others. Od Mishehu 07:50, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
