[edit] Design

[edit] Medal

The medal is two concentric discs placed one on top of the other; the top disc, being the hub of the propeller has four blades sitting on a golden Maltese cross.[1] The golden sunburst has four rays, each of which appears between the flanges of the superimposed cross.[1] It rest on a diamond in gold and hanging at its corners beneath the tips of the propeller blades.[1] The propeller signifies aviation and aerial flight; the Maltese cross symbolizes the risk of life in the face of the enemy; the disc with rays stands for the good deed; and the diamond for usual aerial formation of planes in flight.[1]

[edit] Ribbon

The ribbon has alternating colors of white, blue, gold and red stripes.[1][2] The series on the ribbon is the same as the one on the medals fabric to represent it the same way.[1][2]
