Disney's Fantillusion is a night-time parade at Disneyland Park in Disneyland Resort Paris.

The incarnation that is performed today at Disneyland Park is a reduced version of the original production of the parade, formerly performed at Tokyo Disneyland at the Tokyo Disney Resort. Created in 1995 specifically for Tokyo Disneyland, it was developed by the team behind Fantasmic!, the show performed at Disneyland and the Disney-MGM Studios, with the aim of condensing the story of Fantasmic! and putting it into a parade format. In fact, the parade's score was orchestrated by Bruce Healey, the same composer behind Fantasmic!'s theme and the Music Director at Disneyland.

After six years of attracting record numbers at Tokyo Disneyland, the parade was dismantled and moved to Disneyland Park. The parade was immediately a success, despite the fact that the French incarnation had been severely cut-down through cost-cutting at the finance-conscious resort. An updated, modern version of the Main Street Electrical Parade, DreamLights, performs at Tokyo Disneyland now.

The storyline of the parade is loosely based on the elements of Fantasmic!. Split in three acts, the parade starts with classic Disney characters, before being disrupted by Disney villains, and then ended with the Disney princesses. Fantasmic! features Mickey Mouse in combat with Disney villains, in fact, the three main villains of the show; Maleficent, Ursula and Jafar - Maleficent is the lead villain in both shows, whereas Ursula is the supporting villain at Disneyland as is Jafar at the Disney-MGM Studios, are the three villains featured in Disney's Fantillusion.

At Disneyland Park, Sleeping Beauty Castle is co-ordinated with the parade so it plays a part of the show and changes colour with music, etc. It is also worth noting that in both formats of the parade, in the villains act, the lights on World Bazaar at Tokyo Disneyland and Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland Park are completely put out as each float performs different pyrotechnics.

[edit] History

John Haupt in "From One Lightbulb To Another" talking about SpectroMagic: "...in fact a lot of the preliminary technical work for the Fantillusion parade was proof of concept in this parade. So its kind of the interim step between The Main Street Electrical Parade and Fantillusion."

[edit] Show facts

Disney's Fantillusion parade uses over 1,000,000 colored light bulbs all powered by batteries.
