Dina Aschehoug

Dina Aschehoug (1861-1956), born in Asker, Norway, was a Norwegian painter.
She studied at Vilhelm Kyhn's drawing school in Copenhagen between 1880 and 1882, and then became a student of Eilif Peterssen and Erik Werenskiold in Kristiania. She later studied at the Académie Colarossi in Paris and at Akademiet for Kvinder in Copenhagen. Her father was a provost, and obeying his wishes, she aborted her artistic training, and she later became a teacher at Sylow's School for Girls and the Industrial School for Women for 20 years. In the years between 1911 and 1924 she lived in Copenhagen.
Dina Aschehoug painted in particular interiors and portraits, and she created several altarpieces for Norwegian churches. In 1906 she painted the former altarpiece at the church in Komnes, where it was moved to Efteløt church where it hangs on one of the long walls [1].
