Dignity in Dying

Dignity in Dying is a non-governmental organisation in England and Wales. It is a campaigning organisation promoting patient choice at the end of life.
Operating independently of any political, religious or other organisation, 'Dignity in Dying' is supported entirely by voluntary contributions from members of the public.

The organisation was set up in 1935 under the name of The Voluntary Euthanasia Society by doctors, clergy and lawyers. It changed its name to 'Dignity in Dying' in 2006.

'Dignity in Dying' campaigns for patient choice at the end of life and supports palliative care and increased funding and provision of hospice care. It also campaigns for a change in the law to permit medically assisted dying (also termed "euthanasia by consent") within strict safeguards and promotes the concept and use of advance health care directives ("living wills") in England and Wales.
