This raga is one of the most popular ragas across the world. it is known as Bilaval in the Hindustani music system and as the C-major scale in the western music system. its nature is mellifluous and smooth . The raga is the 29th Melakartha in the 72 Melakartha raga system of carnatic music. The raga offers a large scope for compositions. It is Ideal for a melodious still a laid back majestic presentation which suits artistes of various calibre.
