Dennis Tueart (born 27 November 1949 in Manchester) was an English footballer who played for Sunderland and Manchester City at club level. On the international scene, he won six full caps for England. He first came to the nation's attention as a member of Sunderland's 1973 FA Cup winning team. In March 1974 Tueart signed for Manchester City. In 1978, he crossed the Atlantic to join New York Cosmos, where he remained until 1980, when he re-signed for Manchester City. Tueart was a winger and was part of the winning team in the 1976 League Cup final, memorable for him scoring with a spectacular overhead kick. He finally left Manchester City as a player at the end of the 1982-83 season, following City's relegation. Tueart later became a director of the club, where he was heavily involved in the appointments of managers Joe Royle and Kevin Keegan. In July 2007, following the takeover of Manchester City by Thaksin Shinawatra, Tueart stood down as a director,[1] ending a 33 year association as a player and director with the club.
