[edit] Youth Clubs
Denis Epstein played for three youth clubs, ranging from 1995 to 2005, including Bayer 04 Leverkusen Jugend, Fortuna Köln Jugend, and 1. FC Köln Jugend. In the 1998/1999 season, he made a rivalry switch from Bayer Leverkusen Jugend to 1. FC Köln Jugend. He was picked up as a senior team member for 1. FC Köln II in 2005, playing 31 games for the third division reserve team, and scoring three goals.
[edit] Köln Period
Epstein made his senior debut for 1. FC Köln, in Köln's 05/06 Bundesliga squad, against Hannover 96, where Köln lost the match 1:4. He scored his first Bundesliga goal after he was substituted in for Dimitrios Grammozis against VfL Wolfsburg, where the match ended 1:1. He ended a seven game losing streak for the relegation-threatened club. He has since rarely started a match for the Rhein side, scoring no goals in the 06/07 season so far for FC Köln.
[edit] Rot-Weiss Essen
Epstein was loaned out to Rot-Weiss Essen on January 20, 2007, by Köln coach Christoph Daum, to gain more match experience. He is loaned out until the end of the 2. Bundesliga season, where he will return to Köln.
